Anghami, the Spotify of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), was the region's first alternative to music piracy. It was MENA’s first legal music streaming platform, allowing users in MENA, Europe, and the U.S. to stream and download millions of Arabic and international songs and podcasts. The headquarters of Anghami is in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates after it relocated in 2021. The service was initially launched in November 2012 in Beirut, Lebanon by co-founders Elie Habib and Eddy Maroun. It currently has offices in Beirut, Dubai, Cairo, and Riyadh. By the end of 2020, Anghami’s largest share of users was in Egypt. Anghami is a freemium service that allows users to listen to music for free, with advertisements monetizing the service.
