Media

Media habits changed over time, driven by the recent years' rapid technological development, in particular broadband expansion, the availability of wireless internet, and smart mobile devices. More and more of the consumption takes place online, and streaming platforms provided by, amongst others, Spotify, Netflix, Amazon, and Walt Disney are the biggest winners of this transformation process.
The trend is away from analogue radio towards streaming radio and especially podcasts; away from watching content on regular TV sets, towards online video platforms. The same development can be observed with the use and purchase of newspapers and magazines, books, and music. On top of that, in-home media consumption as well as digital subscriptions within different media increased and will further grow due to the coronavirus outbreak and its consequences.
