Key trade partners
In 2021, the largest share of Ukraine's revenue from trade in goods came from exports to and imports from European countries, at over 41 percent. Asia was the second-leading trade partner region, accounting for approximately one-third of the total. Nevertheless, China constituted the largest share of the country's trade revenue, exceeding 15 billion U.S. dollars in 2020. Poland and Germany were the second and the third-leading trade partners of Ukraine in 2021 and shared about seven and six percent of the country's trade revenue, respectively.On May 9, 2022, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced the suspension of 232 customs tariffs on Ukrainian steel for 12 months. The decision aimed at supporting Ukraine's economy and presupposed an increase of the U.S. share in the trade revenue of the country.
