In 2022, the Championships were held over the course of 14 days from June 27 to July 10 and expected to welcome an attendance of roughly 500 thousand visitors over the two weeks. Ticket prices ranged from the cheapest ground passes between eight and 27 British pounds and court tickets from 46 to 240 British pounds. The prize money for this year's winners in men's and women's singles was two million British pounds and 1.05 million for the runners-up. Leading into the tournament, Rafael Nadal won both the Australian Open and the French Open. The latter was the Spaniard's 22nd Grand Slam tournament win and added to his record of most men's major singles wins. Despite battling through to the semi finals, Nadal ultimately had to pull out of Wimbledon 2022 and the men's singles title was won by Novak Djokovic. Martina Navratilova holds the record for most matches played at Wimbledon, which goes hand in hand with most singles matches played and most singles match wins (including men). She also boasts the most Wimbledon singles tournament wins with nine titles, followed by retired Golden Slam legend Steffi Graf, currently tied with Serena Williams. Williams is the overall leader in women's Grand Slam singles tournament wins since she dethroned Steffi Graf in 2017, when she won her 23rd Major tournament.As for the men, Roger Federer is currently the biggest legend at Wimbledon, holding the record for most mens's singles matches played and won and most Wimbledon men's singles tournaments won with eight titles under his belt, one short of Serena Williams. However, Novak Djokovic has been catching up rapidly, having won the last four Championships, bringing his count to seven.
