Remote work
In 2020, every fourth Pole was working remotely. Education, public administration, and culture were the industries most often affected. During the pandemic, most Poles worked five days a week. Every fourth person declared a willingness to work remotely one to two days a week after the pandemic ends. For most employees, home office has meant saving time by not commuting and reducing transport costs. Lower office maintenance and less sick leave are also significant benefits of remote working for employers. Many have expanded their business to include new forms of communication with customers. Employers have also seen increased employee competence in digital skills, such as cloud computing, or operating communication platforms like MS Teams and Skype.
Remote working was not without negative impact. Lines between work and personal life became blurred. Every second person also had problems concentrating due to the presence of other household members. Some employers found that for the remote working formula did not lead to productivity. Lack of organizational skills for keeping regular working hours, employee supervision, social contacts, or communication difficulties related to problems with internet access are leading examples.
Digital transformation of enterprises
During the pandemic Polish companies are digitizing their operations faster than ever before. The lockdown of the economy and restrictions on the market have changed virtually everything - from work organization to production to service delivery. In 2021, nearly 80 percent of Polish enterprises were undergoing digital transformation or fresh after implementation. Roughly half of companies implemented digital solutions on their own with little external support. One of the main ways of implementing digitalization was purchasing office software as the primary tool for work and information dissemination. Many companies have moved their resources to a cloud, thus improving accessibility and streamlining communication. One in two companies has invested in CRM and one in four in ERP software. Most companies have digitized across all departments. Departments such as accounting, sales, and customer service have been prioritized. Digitalization in the enterprise sector will accelerate even faster with the implementation of 5G networks.
