As the number of smartphones in the country has increased, the number mobile cellular subscriptions in the United States has increased. Subscription numbers rose from nearly 185 million in 2004, to just over 440 million in 2019. The number of mobile cellular subscriptions per 100 inhabitants puts this total figure in perspective.
