Vodafone has over 94 thousand employees around the world, working in customer care and administration, selling, distribution and operations. Europe is the most profitable region for Vodafone, with Germany as the leading market. Vodafone generated close to 13 billion euros in revenue in Germany in 2021, with the company accounting for 36 percent of the mobile market in the country. This is largely done through M-Pesa, a mobile money service provider, which lets mobile phone subscribers pay for goods and services, as well as receive money from other mobile money users.Mobile money has quickly taken off, as it offers bank-like services and electronic transactions to areas of the world that had previously not been fully able to participate in the financial system. M-Pesa has seen significant growth , adding 18.5 million customers from 2017 to 2021.
