Cosmetic product revenues

Among the cosmetic products sold in Canada, the revenue of eye cosmetic products was one of the highest in the period from 2012 to 2021. In 2021, it amounted to roughly 413 million U.S. dollars, closely followed by the revenue generated in the facial cosmetic products segment. By comparison, that same year, the natural cosmetics revenue was less than half of that.

According to a survey conducted in 2021, approximately 56 percent of Canadians said that they select body care and cosmetic products based on quality. During the same survey, around 82 percent of respondents stated that the body care and cosmetic products they use most regularly are personal hygiene products. These were followed by oral care and skincare products. In 2020, the typical spending on skincare for about 42 percent of Canadians amounted to 99 Canadian dollars or less. As of 2021, the annual consumer price index for toiletry items and cosmetics was measured at 104.8, where the base year of 2002 equals 100.
