Non-alcoholic beverages trade
The sales volume of the non-alcoholic drinks market in Finland has constantly increased over the past few years. According to the Statista Consumer Market Outlook, figures will reach 635 million liters by 2026.The value of imported non-alcoholic beverages to Finland also showed an upward trend, peaking at roughly 158 million euros in 2021. Exports of non-alcoholic beverages from Finland have fluctuated, amounting to almost 35 million euros in 2021. The fruit and vegetable juices export value decreased overall during the past decade, amounting to 3.27 million euros in 2021.
Production and consumption
The number of enterprises manufacturing soft drinks, mineral water, and other bottled waters in Finland has fluctuated over the past few years, peaking at 25 in 2019. The non-alcoholic beverage consumption expenditure of Finnish households increased overall. According to the figures for 2020, the household consumption expenditure amounted to around 1.3 billion euros. However, most Finnish consumers never or only occasionally drank sugar-sweetened soft drinks.Coffee drinking is deeply rooted in Finnish society. Finns typically drink several cups of coffee on an average day. It is also common to drink coffee in the evening or nighttime, with Finland's per capita consumption of roasted coffee amounting to over nine kilograms in 2021. The number of enterprises in the processing tea and coffee industry has been steadily rising. However, this does not display in the number of employees in the industry. The number has been subject to fluctuation in recent years, amounting to 503 employees in 2019.
