Production and consumption
The fruit and vegetable juice industry provided employment for over 11.5 thousand people in 2019. Despite this, the production volume of fruit and vegetable juice still fluctuated in recent years.Soft drinks, mineral water and other bottled water production saw a decrease of 101 enterprises between 2010 and 2019. In terms of mineral and sparkling water production, unsweetened and non-flavored products have dominated the Polish markets.
Annual per capita soft drink consumption fluctuated in the last decade, reaching its lowest point in 2020. That same year, no or low calorie soft drinks had a market share of 11 percent, which was an increase compared to earlier years. The sweetened beverages tax in Poland, introduced in 2021, is likely to further affect conusmption trends for sweetened non-alcoholic beverages.
Non-alcoholic beverages trade
Polish coffee export value fluctuated in recent years. In 2020, the Netherlands, Germany, and Ukraine were the main export markets for coffee produced in Poland. In terms of Polish tea, French consumers enjoyed it the most; France accounted for 19.4 percent of Poland's tea export share. As for Poles, they favor Kenyan tea products. In 2020, Poland imported tea products worth 23 million U.S dollars from Kenya.Since 2010, the fruit and vegetable juice import value fluctuated. Majority of the export value was generated on the German market. The neighboring country imported Polish juices worth over 228 million U.S. dollars in 2020.
