Danone was ranked as one of the most valuable food brands worldwide in 2021, ranking third globally in terms of brand worth. In its latest annual report, the company reported net sales amounting to about 24.28 billion euros. Danone’s home market France, along with Russia, China and the United States, contributed the most to generated sales.

Product sales

Danone’s cash cow was the Essential Dairy and Plant-based division in 2021 with over 13 million Euros in sales. The dairy division includes well-known brands such as Actimel and Activia. The probiotic yogurt Activia is sold in more than 70 countries. Evian, Danone’s most popular bottled water brands is the second leading bottled mineral water brand in Great Britain.

Consumer market

Danone yogurt is well-known in many markets. In Germany, about 11 percent of consumers spontaneously recognize the brand and it is the most commonly recognized dairy brand from outside of Germany. Activia and Danone Natural are the two most popular yogurt varieties in several countries. More than three million consumers consumed Activia in 2020 in Great Britain. In that same year in Spain, number of consumers of Acitiva exceeded four million. The company also has visibility in Asia and Latin America, and will likely continue to grow in popularity across markets worldwide.
